A technical and social (and political) history of the tram as pioneered in Blackpool in 1885 and a feature of many big cities untill the 1950s.  At the time to book was written the tram was all-but a novelty ride , back were they started  Blackpool's sea front . The author looks at how and why it declined despite such potential advantages. Of course in more recent times these have since been more widely recognized and  systems re-introduced in various British cities. Fine clean 96 page book in very good clean jacket with fading to the spine.
