A meditation on the whole culture of the Indy 500 as it was in, perhaps one of it's peak era, the mid-late 1970s with worldwide TV coverage, capacity crowds, enormous entries and the whole 'Month of May' process before the big race itself. The blurb say "..about Americana no less than about car racing" and it really is a reflection of the time and the place. 224 pages, very good book, slight edge wear on otherwise very good jacket.
