The driver is Arthur Baron, the event is Prescott Hillclimb 14 May 1939 when he won the class for unlimited racing cars .This photo is taken from a,period snapshot so not professional quality, but any pre-war Prescott photo is unusual and rare. The background is still familiar today although much less wooded than it was in 1939.
Baron's car was one of several T59 Grand Prix Bugatti's running in England at the time - a very exotic car for the wealthy amateur racer to run!
Prescott hillclimb itself had just been opened in 1938 and ran several events prior to the war, reopened soon after peace was established and still operates today.
