10x7 inch (250x175mm) photo of the ERA R10B, driven to the British Hillclimb championship by the versdatile Ken Wharton - seen here at the start of the 1952 Bo'Ness hillclimb in Scotland. Wharton won the title four times in a row with the ERA and a sucession of Coopers sometimes running two cars on the same day and finishing 1st and 2nd to himself!

This photo is taken at Bo'Ness hillclimb which was a popular venue in the 30's-40's-50's-60s and was the driveway up to a Scottish manor house. It fell into disuse in the mid 60s and was revivied in 2008.

This is a superb photo from our archives, very sharp and full of action and atmosphere, printed up from the original negative in a commercial photo lab
