Four really rare colour colour photos from the 1969 Le Mans 24 Hours race of the factory Ferrari 312p Coupe #18 of Pedor Rodriguez and David Piper, one of two beautiful coupes that the team ran only at Le Mans for this race as whuich were more or less F1 cars with two seats and a roof!
The sister car of Amon/Schetty was involved in the first lap fatal accident to John Woolfe who was the only private entry of one of the new 4.5 litre Porsche 917s. This car however lasted more than 220 laps and retired late in the race with gearbox failure.
Two of the photos are from early in the race taken from Dunlop Curve just after the pits, in one the pole sitting Stommolen/Ahrens Porsche 917 is side by side with the car, lights ablaze and in the other two photos the car is seen at mazimum speed in the dusk on the Mulsanne straight.
Lovely car and one of the greatest ever years at Le Mans in a race won by just 100 yards after 24 hours.
