Lovely action shot of Alberto Ascari, future two time world champion for Ferrari at speed in his 4.5 litre V12 Ferrari 375 in practice at Silverstone prior to the 1951 British GP - the very first world championship Grand Prix that Ferrari ever won (team mate Gonzelez)!

This is a practice photo because there's no crowd in the background.

During this event Gonzalez lapped Silverstone at over 100mph average speed for the first time, then won the event the following day after an epic battle with the Alfa Romeo of champion-elect Juan Manual Fangio. Ascari qualified on the front row of the grid but retired with a broken gearbox.
