This is an essential book for those interested in the days when the  rolling chassis alone, was supplied by the Motor Manufactuer, for the prospective owner to then select a Coachbuilder, to either supply the body from their own range, create total individuality or a compromise between the two. All the leading 'Houses' are covered, plus many lesser known and these were not companies that had sprung up overnight to meet the demands of the Automobile, but established firms engaged in the Carriage business, moving with the times. The early examples clearly show the simarlarity & thus the slow evolution between the two modes of transport, up till about 1902'ish when the Car became a Car & not just a 'Horseless Carriage'. Body styles are listed & shown through the year's,, in what alas, is all but a dying craft. 261 page. Very good condition book , areas of wear and tear on the jacket, some paper-loss on the lower back edge and some repair at the corners etc. See images.
