Really nice photo of the ex team car owned by Scotsman John Brown, being driven through the paddock at Winfield for the 1951 Scottish GP event by BRM, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo team driver Reg Parnell.
In fact Reg was down to drive a BRM in this event against anumber of Maseratis, ERAs and so forth - the entry was quite good. However this is just a week after the much more important British GP and BRM wasn't able to ready a car in time. Reg was offered a drive in this 1950 F2 car only to have the driveshaft break on the start line!
The majority of the more intersting cars failed to turn up and the event was run with a mixed bag of racing and sports cars, the winner being Fotheringham-Parker's Maserati from a 1940 BMW 328 and Ian Stewart's Jaguar XK120!~In the background you can see several other cars, one large lorry used as a transporter and the rather bleak backdrop of Winfield RAF base, where the race too place.
