Biography of the popular Swiss F1 and Le Mans driver who died in an accident at Brands Hatch in his F1 BRM in 1971.
Siffert was a popular character in motor sport in the 60s and early 70s who made a particular name for himself as a driver of Porsche sports cars including the 908 and the fantastic 240mph 917 of 1970-71.
He also raced and won in F1 with Lotus, BRM, Cooper etc and was the last man to win a world championship GP at the wheel of a privately entered car (The Rob Walker Team's Lotus 49 in 1968 British GP)
