Rare photos of John Surtees' Lola T70 Aston Martin V8 at the Le Mans test weekend 1967.

The four images show the car from the back, under braking for the Esses with a Mustang on it's right hand side, at speed under the Dunlop Bridge, a view of the engine bay with the Aston Martin V8 visible and another different view of the engine in which the famous Motor Sport reporter 'DSJ' Denis Jenkinson ('Jenks') is seen next to the car with his famous red beard and glasses.

The car was fast and right up at the front in the early laps of the 1967 Le Mans 24 hour race but head gasket flaws put it out very early on. One other event was entered, the 1967 Nurburgring 1000kms and again the car was fast but didn't last. Surtees grew disillusioned with Aston Martin at this point and future team Surtees T70 Lolas had Chevrolet engine...
