Unusual colour photo of the works team Gold Leaf Team Lotus Type 47 (Europa), chassis 47/69 in the paddock at the back of the team transporter 27 April 1968 and the Silverstone Players Trophy event, the second outing for the 47 in competition.
John Miles, son of the famous screen actor Bernard Miles and brother of 'Ryans Daughter' star Sarah Miles, is seen leaning over at the front of the car wearing glasses. Miles was later the No.2 to Rindt in the Lotus F1 team during 1970 and in later years was a leading road tester for motoring magazines (Motor I think?). On the left is team Lotus mechanic Dennis London and on the right is Ian Coghill his colleague. The transporter was one of those previously used to haul the works Lotus Cortina's around for Jim Clark etc.
