Unusual colour photo of the Graham Hill's 1969 Monaco GP winning Lotus 49 (R10) in what I think is the Silverstone paddock....why? Not sure. This car only ever appeared in this form at Monaco where the tall wings it had been running were suddenly banned after the first day of practice. The rather crude engine cover/spoiler you see here was quickly added for the race and replaced by a proper rear wing, as we would recognize it, at the next race in Holland some 5 or 6 weeks later.
I assume the car was at Silverstone on display or maybe Hill did a demo run? Does anyone know?
This is an amateur photo but it's pretty good and being in colour it does give you a give you a good view of the last car Hill took to a Grand Prix victory, and it shows the casual nature of the paddock in the late 1960s.
