Unusual colour photo of the Graham Hill's 1969 Monaco GP winning Lotus 49 (R10) in what I think is the Silverstone paddock....why? Not sure. This car only ever appeared in this form at Monaco where the tall wings it had been running were suddenly banned after the first  day of practice. A rather crude engine cover/spoiler which is just out of shot in the foreground was quickly added for the race. You can still see the mounting brackets for the stays which ran from the rollbar back to the original tall wing struts. The whole set up was replaced by a proper rear wing, as we would recognize it, at the next race in Holland some 5 or 6 weeks later.

I assume the car was at Silverstone on display or maybe Hill did a demo run? Does anyone know ? There is a mechanics leg visible the the front of the car. Team Lotus spanner-men wore Gold Leaf red overalls at this point I believe.

This is an amateur photo but it's pretty good and being in colour it does give you a give you a good view of the last car Hill took to a Grand Prix victory including the dashboard and engine detail, the wooden gear knob, the blue seatbelts (a new innovation at the time).
