Rare photo of the Lotus 78 driven by  Riccardo London Bridge, an obscure driver from Columbia, in fact one of the great 'mystery men' of F1 racing in general, at the final round of the 1980 Aurora AFX British F1 series at Silverstone.

I think the car is the 1977 Belgian GP winning chassis driven then by Nillson and was then used in the Aurora series by Villota, Wilson, Dickinson and Brancatelli. In the Silverstone race, the curiously named Londono-Bridge (which may have been a nickname or an in-joke by the team) finished 7th.

He went on to appear in the 1981 Brazilian GP for Ensign, however the FIA declined him the relevent license and he was removed from the entry after actually setting rather good times in the first practice session when his lap of 1:41 was faster than Piquet, Arnoux and Jabouille.... ! Obviously a driver of some ability.

His replacement was Marc Surer who finished 4th and set fastest lap so the car was no slouch either...

Bridge appeared in Can Am with a Lola T530, then a couple of F2 events later in 1981 then disappeared.
