Lovley colour shot of the start, including not only Cortinas, Falcons and Minis but a Porsche 911 (funny 'touring car' but it fitted the rules back then!) .
This is Thruxton Easter Monday 1968, the support race for the major F2 international that was the circuits first big event after it's re-opening for cars that season (to replace the lost Goodwood)
On the front row are Ford Falcons number 3 (Roy Pierpoint)) 1 (David Hobbs) and hidden is pole man 2 (Brian Muir) who won overall from Hobbs.
Row two is Vic Elford in Bill Bradley's Porsche alongside the Alan Mann Team Mk2 Lotus Cortina of Frank Gardner.
Row three features Tony Dean (12) Mk1 Cortina and Brian Robonson (11) in a MK2 with the Cooper Mini of John Rhodes.

Amateur photo but sharp and rather unusual re in being colour.Printed up from the original slide, held in our archives.
