Amateur photo of the legendary David Purley, F1 driver, ex para, George Medal winner and all round hero.
This is Mallory in 1973 when he was racing the LEC sponsored March 733 - the same season he debuted in F1 and made a valiant attempt to save fellow driver Roger Williamson from the burning wreck of his March 731 at the Dutch GP, sadly without success.
Later he survived the heaviest G Load ever recorded by a human being when he crashed at Silverstone during qualifying for the 1977 British GP, almost died at track side, yet returned to the cockpit 2 years later to race again.
This is a recent print.
