This Magnificent Volume features the outstanding photography of the author, a Kodak engineer with access to all the best new equipment at the time and a personal freind of Mercedes team driver Richard Seaman. Having covered the start of the Silver Arrows era in a conventional manner, Monkhouse was able to travelled with Seaman to races during the years 1937-9 and thus had a unique insiders's access to this famous and dramatic era. Monkhouse had written eartlier books on the subkject but this one, by rthe publishers of the ERA book by Weguelin, continues the tale to the end of the Mercedes F1 involvement in 1955 (with Moss and Fangio) and because of it's higher [rinting quality is able to showcase the wonderful images in a much larger and clearer format than before. If you have the early books you really should put on of these 1984 books on your shelf alongside as it's thoroughly complimentary .It runs to 207 very large landscape pages Very good book in original transparent jacket and card slip case. The print comes off the transparent jacket on the back and sticks to the silver cover cloth - why they printed inside the jacket and not direct to the cloth in the first place is a total mystery... but every copy is much the same.
