Amazing looking Mercedes W196 STREAMLINER of Karl Kling at the 1954 Berlin GP at the legendary Avus track. You can clearly see in the shot the car is taking the massive brick surfaced banking of the North Turn, built in the 1930s but now, sadly, long gone. This event, more or less run to show off the new Mercedes F1 cars to the German public, was won by Kling from Fangio - the suspecion being that the result was worked out among the team in advance...Kling was a good driver but he was never Fangio's equal...who was ??
