Large, poorly titled hardback of wonderful images drawn from the GETTY ARCHIVE on motor racing up to the late 1950s. Atmospheric shots of Malcolm Campbell in his workshop with a new Bugatti T35, of to Achile Varzi in the cockpit of an AUTO UNION with a cigarette in his mouth.... There are amusing shots of ancient grandstands pre WW1, of very English speed trials of the 1920s with helmet-less undergraduates in collar-and-tie driving Bugattis, of Bentleys at Brooklands, of Ferrari's in Valentino Park. Stirling Moss in a Vanwall, Fangio in a Maserati 250F, ERAs, Mercedes Silver Arrows, chain drive FIATs and land speed record contenders. The bland title sells this one very short and the quality is excellent and the price represents amazing value for money.
