Recollections of racing motorbike in what was known as the Continental Circus where riders with little means or factory support raced from week to week in different countries collecting enough in start and prize money to fund the following week's entry and the costs of getting there and eating in the meantime!
Venues ranged from Grand Prix venues like the Nurburgring and Spa to more provincial affairs around the roads of towns like St Weddel, Mettet and Solitude.
Not an in-depth book, only 96 pages but a good nostalgic flavour of the way things were untill sponsorship and Two Stroke bikes took over in the early 1970s and the 'circus' rather ebbed away unbder the new financial strain.
Great photos of great names from Stanley Woods and Walter Rush to Mike Hailwood and John Surtees , plus a great many less famous.
Fine clean smart , looks as though it's hardly been opened
