10x7 inches (250mmx175mm) photo of John Cobb's fantastic land speed record car NAPIER RAILTON which held the record several times, before and after the war, finally running at over 400mph for the first time on land in 1947 and retaining the record untill 1964!. This photo shows the car being pushed along in the paddock at Brooklands race track where it had been built at THOMPSON & TAYLOR who's premises were located at the track. Note the two Policeman lending a hand! The body is as yet unfinished (the wheels remain exposed, covers later enclosed them) and unpainted (it was white) .
