This is a story both of personal achievement and of a heroic period in Jaguar's history. In a career spanning 33 years at Jaguar,  Norman Dewis tested and developed a remarkable series of cars.In his time completing over a million test miles at 100mph plus average speed, Norman also played a crucial role developing among others the D Type. E Type, Mk2,  XJ6, XJ12 and XJS as well as the revolutionary Dunlop disc brake system and survived high speed crashes and roll-overs in the days before seat belts- and without ever braking a bone.

He also formed part of the Jaguar works team at Le Mans in 1955 driving the D Type in that fateful race with Jaguar's biggest success soured by an apalling crash that killed so many spectators it almost ended motor racing for good.

Filled with personal insights and fascinating technical detail, this book tells the unique story of a great Jaguar character and the equally great cars he worked with.

A big hefty hardcover book weighing 2.75 kilograms with a total of 575 pages. Both book and cover in near fine condition.
