Sub-titled: "Last of the Gentleman Racers". Apart from a privately published book produced in very small numbers and now almost impossible to come across and if so at such a price, nothing had been written about Piers until Adam Cooper put together this excellent account of this fine driver's life, which alas, ended in a fiery crash at Zandvoort in 1970. This was at a time when race drivers life expectancy could be compared almost to that of the Fighter Pilots of the World Wars. Thankfully Jackie Stewart's Safety Campaign has put a stop to all that. Piers Courage was from the famous brewing family of that name and was expected to follow into the business. However, there was a group of like minded lads with whom he shared an interest in fast cars and naturally enough racing, although most had the funds to get in at ground level single seater racing, they still had to do it the hard way and have the basic talent to make a reasonable success of it. It was from this small group who shared 'that notorious flat in Harrow' that Piers would emerge the star who made it as an F.1 Driver, with his old flat-mate Frank Williams providing the Car. Another: Bubbles Horsley got involved with the Hesketh F.1.Team with James Hunt at the Wheel. Other regular F.1. play-mates in these happier times included Innes Ireland and Jochen Rindt. I'm sure you get the picture! which would of course include the Girls!! and Parties. A superb book of life lived to the fullest extent as a top race driver and fun character who committed to enjoy each day, should it be his last.  Large format book, 256 pages with some great pictures. The and it's jacket in very good clean condition
