1966 1st edition
Hardback
353 large pages. Heavyweight book on the history of Grand Prix motor racing 1906-1951 by Williams Court.
An all-time classic title, Court's elegant style suits the era, the choice and quality of photos is outstanding. The production values and paper used are very high grade (hence the weight...) and all in all this is a most attractive and fascinating book on a great subject. Includes the wonderfull "Silver Arrows" era 1934-39 in which state funded teams from Mercedes and Auto Union battled it out at record speeds with amazing technical innovation and massively powerful cars.
All the great names feature, Lancia, Nuvolari, Varzi, Fangio, Caracciola, Campari, Murphy, Segrave, Birkin, Stuck, Gonzales, Moss etc etc.
This title was reprinted in 1988 but the standard of production was awful compared to the original and picture quality just does not compare to this edition.
Fine book but the lower half of the front of the jacket has been torn away .Priced to reflect this
