Description

The reprint of the 1891 edition describes the construction of the railway under the Severn estuary. This tunnel, begun in the early 1873, was opened to traffic in September, 1886. Thomas Walker, who was in charge of the project from 1877 to its completion, describes the work and the difficulties encountered in detail. It contains many fine drawings from the original plans. Near fine condition with only slight shelf wear to top of paper jacket.240 pages.
